Some of us are born to drive! The sheer excitement of a long drive takes precedence overlooking the fact that a machine also needs care. It is important to do a basic check before we take on the wheel before floating on the highway. This checklist is built to do some simple checks to keep one ready for the roads.
- Please check if your Car service is overdue.
- Then get it done at least 2-3 days before the scheduled departure.
- Drive for at least 30-40 Kms post Servicing to check if the vehicle is functioning properly. Never travel straight out of a service station
- Needless to say, fill up your tank.
- Check your Engine oil and coolant and refill if required. It is advisable to carry a bottle of coolant in the car
- Check the air in the tyres including the spare one.
- Do check if your Jack and the Tool kit is in place. Please check the tool book to be sure that all the tools are present inside
- If you have never changed a spare, it makes sense to try it out sometime before the trip. Else to keep abreast of the process please watch a video on YouTube.
- Keep a bucket and a mug, to keep your windscreen clean. Sometimes it also helps to answer nature’s call. LOL
- Keep at least 15-20 Newspapers, a bed sheet and a pillow. You can never predict the mysteries of the road.
- A fire extinguisher is quite handy, though it would probably never come in use. Better safe than sorry
- Additionally, I keep 2 Camping chairs, Odomos (mosquito repellent), wet tissue, paper soap, lots of drinking water, hot water flask, coffee powder, tea bags, Red bull, something to munch and the list goes on 😀
